This kid wins at life. [12 Jun 2009|03:53pm]

Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a North Carolina State University student last week who was accused of creating a "monster" out of construction barrels and placing it on the side of the road.

Authorities charged Joseph Carnevale with larceny for taking materials from a construction site at a roundabout project to create the monster

In reference to all these stupid Teabagging protest things [18 Apr 2009|03:22pm]
"Remember that these people live in a self-imposed vacuum where things like reason and evidence just do not get the chance to breathe. The fact that a 3% hike on the top tax-bracket does not constitute socialism or that the declining marginal utility of income provides a sound economic (and moral!) argument for increasing the burden of taxation of the rich never reaches these people. For them, politics is nothing more than a sport where the aim is to beat the other team: Democrats = Socialism, therefore - as fans of capitalism - the Democrats must be opposed. At no point does reason enter into this diatribe, much less any semblence of a viable, competing policy. No, the aim here is to simply jeer everything you opponent does, because they are your opponents and that's just what you do to opponents. The more competent your opponent is - or the more they marginalise you - the more hysterical and ludicrous the form your opposition must take."

Spot on, spot on.

Bribery? [23 Feb 2009|08:09am]
"Dear Chris,

We read your Amazon Feedback and are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with your order. Our policy is 100% customer satisfaction and we would appreciate all customers to contact us before leaving a Feedback. As a courtesy, I can refund your entire shipping charge of $5.95 upon the removal of the Amazon feedback."

Since when has courtesy equated with bribery? Now, I'd love to get $6 back, but F that; these idiots charged me $6 to ship an Infrared emitting cable in a envelope through the mail. The kicker being it took TWO FRIGGIN' WEEKS to get here!

Principle > $6.

What better way to hide the fact that your VP doesn't know anything? [23 Sep 2008|10:58am]
http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/09/23/palin-media-blackout-continues/

NEW YORK –It has been widely reported that Sarah Palin has yet to give a news conference or even answer a few questions from the traveling press that follow her from city to city on her plane. But, today the Palin camp went to new lengths to control the media, which is covering the GOP Vice-Presidential nominee.

It was decided by the campaign that today’s meetings with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Colombian president Alvaro Uribe, and Former Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger would be pooled. This means only one television network with their camera and producer, plus a print reporter, and wire reporters would be let in at the beginning of the meeting and then be ushered out before the leaders and Palin began talking. This is common practice in presidential campaigns, but this morning a little over one hour before the meetings would begin the pool network television producer and print poolers were told they were not allowed to enter the meetings.

This means that the Palin camp has the benefit of pictures of her shaking hands with world leaders and have that video broadcast all over the world, but there would be no risk of her having to answer even one question from a reporter at the beginning of the meetings. It is many television network’s policy, including Fox News Channel to not provide a camera if an editorial presence is not allowed in. Once the campaign realized that these pictures would not be seen they relented, but the print pool is still not allowed to enter the Karzai event, which is about to begin.

Palin has done two television interviews since her selection—with ABC’s Charlie Gibson and Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity. One reporter got close enough to Palin to ask her an impromptu question about the AIG bail-out, but that is the only spontaneous question she has gotten thrown at her since being rolled out as McCain’s number two.

It is traditional for the press traveling with a candidate to have some relationship with the candidate and special access because of all the hours logged on the plane and on the campaign trail. But, Palin still has not come back to answer any questions or talk to her press corps. The only time the press has met the Alaska governor is on her first solo flight three weeks ago and it was off the record. We shook hands with Palin and she was quickly ushered back to the front of the plane behind a gray curtain where she has remained for the three and a half weeks she has been a candidate.

I'm getting really tired of everything politics related this year. I know it's not really anything new, but I just cant stand how modern politics is little more than everyone lining up and throwing insults and personal attacks at each other. Logic and, more importantly, the issues don't seem to mean jack shit anymore. Literally all I see on the news networks is some borderline retarded "commentator" spewing bullshit that is more than probably false and maybe a 2 second blurb about an issue.

And what the shit is with the Republican party calling McCain change and reform? I could see that with McCain of 2000 or even, to a lesser extent, the McCain of 2004, but the McCain of 2008 is so close to the policies of the Bush administration I feel like I'm getting slapped in the face. I don't have a source for this, but McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time in the Senate; so how exactly is that change? Change and reform my ass.

Watching Rudolph 9/11 and Palin's speech last night was absolutely shocking. I couldn't believe how much they laid into Obama for being a community organizer. Since when is that something to mock? And even assuming they are right and being a community organizer doesn't qualify as any sort of experience, how would being the mayor of a town of 6,000 be any better? Really, the mayors of 75% of American cities are more qualified than this cunt.

At any rate, I think this clip from the Daily Show pretty much sums it all up:

"Hey Lois, look at me. I'm the two symbols of the Republican party. An elephant, and a Fat White guy who's threatened by change."

haha, this doesn't surprise me in the slightest [01 Sep 2008|11:56am]
"An early morning beer run turned into a violent dust-up at at the Forest Grove convenience store.

According to Police a 16-year-old Forest Grove boy and Brendon Malloy, 20, of Forest Grove, walked into a Plaid Pantry, located at 2436 19th Ave., shortly after midnight on Aug. 28.

The pair grabbed some beer, then attempted to walk out of the store without paying.

That's when the clerk grabbed the 16-year-old and attempted to stop him from leaving.

Malloy, police said, punched the clerk in the back of the head, then bolted.

Two bystanders ran to the scene and held down the 16-year-old until Forest Grove Police arrived.

Malloy was located in Cornelius by a Cornelius Police officer.

He was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree and Harassment and lodged at the Washington County Jail.

The 16-year-old was charged with Robbery in the First Degree and turned over to the custody of the Washington County Juvenile Department.

Been trying to find the video, but a quick youtube search yielded no luck. At any rate, it still makes me laugh just reading about it.

SOOOOOO, rather than face reality, it's time to adopt the 'ole 9/11 truther strategy of invoking a massive conspiracy flying in the face of all available evidence. Assuming all this crazy non-sense conspiracy in favor of the black man is true, however, it doesn't matter even slightly if she is in fact the more electable candidate considering the fact that if the superdelegates vote overwhelmingly for Hillary, all shit will break loose. For one thing, a vast majority of the superdelegates would have to vote for Hillary when she is, no matter how you look at it, behind in the popular vote. She's also behind in the pledged delegate count from the primaries and caucuses, even if you add in FL & MI who got their delegates thrown out.

This brings me to the exact reason I hate this bitch so much; she is so concerned with winning that she's willing to destroy the Democratic party to do so. If the superdelegates vote for her and end up getting her nominated, I can absolutely guarantee that McCain will win the overall election because of the negative impact it will have on the Democratic party. I forget who said it, but if the Democratic party goes against it's own popular vote, I'm sure the Republican party would be more than willing to court them over to their side.

The sheer sense of entitlement for the Democratic nomination Hillary seems to have is astonishing. It blows my mind that she would even consider staying in the race at this point. And don't even get me started on her Kennedy assassination remarks (linkage: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/23/clinton-kennedy-assassina_n_103319.html). I mean, could she not stop campaigning without throwing in the towel? Assuming something (anything, really) does happen to Obama, she could still got nominated, no? So why does she keep fighting tooth and nail for the nomination? WHY?

Just throw in the towel already, god damn.

Hillary Clinton [08 May 2008|12:36pm]
[ music | Allman Brothers Band - Blue Sky ]

Why Hillary Clinton is still in the Democratic race is absolutely beyond me. All the rhetoric in the world on the issue is completely irrelevent considering the fact that, mathematically speaking, it is impossible for her to win the nomination unless she somehow gets 72% of the remaining popular vote AND 69% of the superdelegate vote. To date, Obama has a 700,000 vote lead in the popular vote. Even with the votes lost from Michigan (Obama wasn't even on that ballot) and Florida included (those two states lost their delegates for violating party rules on primary dates), Hilary is still 87,000 votes behind Obama. So, for Hilary to win the nomination, she has to change the fact that she needs to get 72% of the remaining votes when she has only received 47.3% of the votes thus far. It's flat out not going to happen.

So, why is she still in the running? She mathematically cannot win the nomination but is still fighting tooth and nail to defeat the inevitable. The only plausible outcome of this fight that's already over is that when Obama wins the nomination, McCain will reap the benefits of the negative campaign Hilary's been running. Is it really any surprise that Rush Limbaugh endorsed Hilary Clinton? Every second Hilary stays in this race, the Republicans are that much closer to winning the '08 election simply through the Democratic party's internal fighting.

If you want to do the math yourself, go here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/29/delegate.counter/index.html and play around with the numbers. It's just simply not possible for her to win unless she somehow can somehow gain an additional 20% of the remaining Democratic popular vote in the next 3 weeks. It's just not going to happen.

I pulled my numbers from here: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html

And just for a bit of added irony, when I went to the CNN delegate counter thing, an ad for Hilary was what loaded for the right side banner ad.
